Dharani to remake Agni Natchathiram with Vikram Prabhu, Gautham Karthik

No it is not going to be Mani Ratnam who will be remaking his own super hit film Agni Natchathiram but director Dharani, who will be remaking it with Vikram Prabhu (Prabhu's son), who is making his grand debut in Prabhu Solomon's Kumki and also with Karthik's son Gautham Karthik who is making his debut in Mani's Kadal.

The original had Prabhu & Karthik playing rival step brothers who fight and reunite at the climax, which was a super-hit in the 80's.

A source says, “The film is much-loved by all Tamil cinema fans. So, if anyone would do justice to the roles done by Prabhu and Karthik, it is their children.”

The film is to be produced by the makers of Osthe to be directed by Dharani, who has plans of making it in Tamil as well as Telugu.

Producer Ramesh told media, “Talks are on with Dharani to direct the project. Both Vikram Prabhu and Gautham Karthik have evinced a lot of interest in this film as they will be stepping into their father’s shoes.”

The Agni Natchathiram remake will Kick-start only in December as the makers would like Mani Ratnam’s Kadal to hit screens before they embark on their project.

A spokesperson from Vikram Prabhu's side informs, “Yes, producer Ramesh has been toying with this and also got in touch with us regarding this. We have asked him for a clear picture on the rights of the film so that we can decide.”
