Nobody knows what fate has in store. Born to Bengali parents, Richa Gangopdhyay was receiving education in America when she decided to try her luck in films. Winning at a major beauty pageant led her to modelling assignments and eventually to Shekhar Kammula, her would be director in 'Leader'.
'Leader' revolved around Arjun Prasad, played by Rana Daggubati, who breaks on to the political scenario of south India after the assassination of his CM father.
'Leader' was one of the talked about films of the year 2010 where Richa portrayed the role of Archana. The film gave Richa the exposure she wanted.
The film was a moderate success but the role of a TV channel's CEO made Richa's face familiar to the audiences
Gangopadhyay was soon spotted by another director P Vasu, who finalised her for the lead role of Gowri opposite Venkatesh in supernatural thriller 'Nagavalli'.
Received with positive reviews, 'Nagavalli' opened up several opportunities for the newcomer.
Richa was next seen in 'Mirapakaay' with Ravi Teja. She played the love interest of the undercover agent Teja with ease. 'Mirapakaay' was Gangopadhyay's third film in a short span which helped her remain fresh in the audiences' memories.
The end of the year 2011 has again brought happiness for Richa Gangopadhyay as two of her films are releasing soon.
'Mayakkam Enna' will release before 'Osthe', Tamil remake of 'Dabangg'.
Directed by Selvaraghavan, 'Mayakkan Enna' has the director's brother Dhanush in the lead role alongside Richa.
The director-actor duo has given three back to back hits in the past and thus Richa will also be hoping for a good finish.
But the one film everybody is looking forward to is the Tamil version of Hindi blockbuster 'Dabangg'.
Richa Ganpodhyay will appear as Neduvaali, a character modelled on the lines of Sonakshi Sinha's character in 'Dabangg'.
The teasers of the film promise a super stylish film with a fearless inspector Osthe Velan, played by Silambarasan, in the middle of the affairs.
Sonakshi Sinha had risen to the prominence after the mega success of 'Dabangg' and now it's Richa's turn to make it big with 'Osthe'.
She will also face a little competition from Mallika Sherawat, who is doing an item number in 'Osthe' but at the end of the day it's Richa who has to show her calibre as the lead lady.
